Teenage pregnancy is a global issue that can lead to health problems and intergenerational poverty. It occurs more in socially and economically disadvantaged communities. Factors that contribute to teenage pregnancy include lack of education, peer pressure, and early sexual activity. The effects of teenage pregnancy include higher risks of depression, PTSD, and physical health problems for both mother and baby. It also reduces the likelihood of completing higher education and career prospects, and increases financial costs for society. Prevention efforts include contraceptive use, education, and empowering teenagers to set boundaries.
