WHAT IS NATURAL LANGUAGE
PROCESSING ?

 Natural language processing (NLP) combines linguistics (i.e.

study of languages) and Artificial Intelligence(AI) to enables
computers to understand, interpret and manipulate human or
Natural Language input.

 The goal of NLP is for computers to be able to interpret and

generate human language. NLP bridges the gap of
interaction between humans and electronic devices.
 It also aims to build systems that can make sense of text and
performs task like translation, grammer checking or topic
classification.

NATURAL LANGUAGE GENERATION

 NLG is much simpler to accomplish. NLG converts a computer’s artificial language into text and can also convert that
text into audible speech using text-to-speech technology.

 NLG enables computers to automatically generate natural language text, mimicking the way humans naturally
communicate using a lexicon and a set of grammar rules.

 First, the NLP system identifies what data should be converted to text.
 Then, it organizes the structure of how it’s going to say it.
 The text-to-speech engine uses a prosody model to evaluate the text and algorithm such as Markov chain to generate
speech

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT
• :

 Companies like Google are experimenting with Deep Neural Networks

(DNNs) to push the limits of NLP and make it possible for human-to-
machine interactions to feel just like human-to-human interactions.
 Translation of a sentence in one language to the same sentence in another
Language at a broader scope.
 This would allows us to interact with machines in ways that we do with
other humans.
 The future of NLP is to have machines that can understand and have
general understanding of human language.
CONCLUSION

• Natural Language Processing is the practice of teaching machines to understand and interpret
conversational inputs from humans. NLP based on Machine Learning can be used to establish
communication channels between humans and machines.

• NLP is one of the growing technologies. With constant innovation and research going on in this field, it is
only expected to grow in the future.

• This technology works on the speech provided by the user, breaks it down for proper understanding and
processes accordingly.
