Research paper

Title page
The title page should be explanatory by itself
since its main function is to inform the
reader about the research paper. The title
according to some researchers must be long
enough to be descriptive and short enough to
be catchy.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS OF INFORMATION
MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE TITLE PAGE.

The exact title of the paper

The writer’s full name
The subject for which the paper is
presented
The name of the school to which the paper
is submitted
Approval Sheet
Right after the title page is the
approval sheet. The statement of
acceptance of the research paper is
contained in the approval sheet.
Acknowledgment Sheet
This is where the writer expresses the gratitude for
all the assistance and support extended in the
course of making the research paper in not more
than two pages. Only those who help with no
monetary compensation received from the
researcher will be included in this part.
DEDICATION
Abstract
It is a brief summary of the research paper. It
allows the reader to have a view of the
research paper’s problem, method used, the
findings and conclusions. It includes the brief
description of the background and purpose of
the study.
Table of Contents
This part lists the preliminaries, the
chapter titles with subtopics of the
research, and the supplementary
materials.

List of Tables
This part list the tables used by the researcher.
A table allows the representation of
compressed data, which is not discernible in
text. It looks like the table of contents but it
only enlists the used tables in the research.
List of Figures
All the titles of illustrative materials
in the form of figures, pictures,
graphs and charts are included in this
preliminary part.
Introduction
This is the first part of Chapter 1 and it consists of the
following: Background of the study, Statement of the
problem, Significance of the study, and the scope and
delimitation of the study. An effective introduction may be
achieved by:
Using a relevant and striking quotation
Relating a relevant but striking anecdote or incident
Asking a series of questions
Using a striking statement of your own
Background of the Study
This is a brief statement of the origin of the
problem. It is an account describing the
circumstances which suggest the research.
It justifies the selection of the topic for the
paper.
Statement of the Problem
The definition of the problem is the first
main step in writing the research paper. It
should be stated precisely, accurately, and
clearly. The problem can be expressed in
question or declarative form.
Significance of the Study
This part states why the study conducted is
significant, and the importance of the results of
the study has. It covers an expression of the
study’s relevance to felt the needs, its possible
contribution to knowledge, and the
implications and other possible uses for its
result.
Scope and Delimitation of the Study
The scope of the study identifies a reasonable
area covered by the study. A specific statement
of the study must indicate the subjects, the
number, and the treatment involved in the
study. The proper definition of its limit must
also be stated.
Body
This part presents a theoretical or
conceptual scheme for the research
problem. This is usually presented in
a diagram showing the
interrelationship of the variables
Hypothesis
These are tentative statements about
the given research topic. These serve
as a tentative answer to one or more
of the research question posted.
Definition of Terms
This part includes the operational and
conceptual definition of significant
terms used in the research paper. The
words are represented in alphabetical
order.
Methodology
This chapter includes the research design, the
procedure for data collection, and data analysis
procedure. Research design is a description of
the conditions for data collections and
analysis. This part tells the reader what the
researcher did and the reason why it is done.
Presentation and Analysis of Data
This part summarizes the data collected and presents
the data analysis of the collected data. This part
includes the explanations, implications, and
applications of the results of the collected data. In
analysing the data, the researcher must be objective
and logical. Opinions must not overshadow the facts
gathered in presenting and analysing the data.
Summary and Conclusions
This is the last chapter of the research,
which includes an overview of the
research. It consists of the restatement
of the problem, the procedures, and the
findings.
Writing and Documenting the Paper
With the help of an outline, as a researcher you are now ready to write your
paper by the following the simple procedure:

First Draft- In writing the first draft, take note of the principles of
unity, coherence, and emphasis, and be consistent with your outline.
First Revision- In revising the first draft, marginal notes can be
placed, introductory sentences can be given variations, punctuations,
spelling, and agreement must also be checked.
Documentation- As a researcher, your paper must be properly
documented with the use of footnotes and bibliography as taught in your
earlier English classes.
Bibliography
It is an alphabetical list of source and materials that
have been used in the study. Bibliography enables
the reader to have scholarly grasp of the study. This
part may be divided into books, periodicals,
document and unpublished works, but as a rule, if
the bibliography contains lesser than 20 titles, it
should not be subdivided into different categories.

Follow the APA format in making your
