    • What can you say about the answer of
    Venus Raj as compared with the

    • If you were to be asked these same
    kind of questions, would you be able
    to answer the questions easily?
    Activity 3:
    The Real Deal
    Public speaking is any speaking
    activity in which a speaker talks
    to an audience or a group of
    people. Public speaking can be
    prepared or impromptu.
    In a prepared type of public speaking,
    the speaker is given enough time (ex:
    days or months) to prepare for the
    speech. A prepared speech can also be
    memorized or written down and read.
    In an impromptu type of public
    speaking, a speaker is not given
    enough time to prepare for the
    speech. There is also no copy of
    the speech to read.
     reciting during a “surprise” recitation
    in class
     answering a question during a report or
    presentation in class
     answering questions during a job
    interview
     giving a message during a party (ex.
    debut, wedding)

    “Are women treated equally as men
    in the Philippines?”
    Yes, women are treated equally in the
    Philippines.
    R-REASON
    Explain your point or answer
    to the question.
    Just like the men, women in our
    country can also be elected in high
    and respected positions in the
    government. Women are also leaders
    of many different organizations,
    businesses, and government agencies.
    E-EXAMPLES
    Give examples to your
    reasons.
    Examples give life
    to the speech.
    For example, we have many women leaders
    who just like Vice President Leni Robredo,
    Senator Grace Poe, and former Senator
    Miriam Defensor Santiago. Two of our former
    presidents are also women: former president
    Corazon Aquino and former president Gloria
    Macapagal-Arroyo. The leader of the
    Department of Education is also a woman
    Secretary Leonor Briones.

    idea.
    After a point, give
    another reason and example.
    End your speech with a
    summary or a final point.
    Women are also given equal opportunities for
    work. Women can be accepted at any job as long as
    she meets the qualifications for all applicants. Also,
    it is not only the men who get the high salary or get
    promoted. Everyone has a chance. Equality is
    important to all. We focus on equality among
    women because in the past, women were treated
    unfairly but everyone deserves a fair treatment
    regardless of sex, gender, nationality, and age.

     Is my speech organized?
     Are the ideas in my speech
    connected to one another?
     Did I use the correct words to
    connect my ideas (ex: and, but, or,
    because, however, also, therefore)?
    ANALYSIS
     Do the ideas I presented answer the
    question of the speech?
     Did I explain/give reasons for my
    answers?
     Did I give examples to make my
    answers clear?
    DELIVERY
     Is the volume of my voice too loud
    or too soft?
     Am I using/doing the correct
    gestures (movements of the hands,
    facial expression, eye contact)?
