A STUDY ON THE RELATIONSHIP OF ACADEMIC

PERFORMANCE AND MENTAL HEALTH


STRESSORS IN HUMMS STUDENTS AT VMC ASIAN
COLLEGE FOUNDATION INC.

OBJECTIVES

Therefore, the goals of this study is to determine the relationship


between the academic performance and mental health stressors of
the respondents, their perspective about this matter, how they
cope up and mentality and fight back against these mental health
stressors, and how this matter can have a big impact to students.
To know if it has a significance relationship and provide
recommendations for senior high school students, so we still keep
moving on investigating about this matter.
STATEMENT OF THE
PROBLEM

This study sought to determine the relationship between


academic performance and mental health stressors in
humanities and social sciences (HUMSS) students at VMC Asian
College Foundation Inc. To answer the above stated problem, an
answer of the following will be sought:
1. What is the demographics of the students in terms of:

a. Age

b. Grade level

c. Gender

d. Socio-Economic status

2. What is the academic performance of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students in
terms of:

a. General Weighted Average (GWA)

b. Participation in class works

c. Interest in their chosen strand

d. Level of knowledge acquired

3. What are the common mental health stressors in terms of:

a. Habits

b. Social life

c. Productivity

d. Sleeping patterns

4. Is there any significant relationship between the academic performance and mental health of
the respondents?
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The purpose of this study is to identify students whether


there is a significant impact of mental health stressors on the
academic performance of the students. The researchers
expect that this study will help them evaluate the importance
of mental health to students that may affect their academic
performance at school. The main purpose of this study is to
review the common stressors of the students and give some
recommendations about those stressors if there is a
significant relationship.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE
STUDY

This study is significant not only for the researchers, but


also for educators and futures researchers. It would also
help the students and parents how to handle these mental
health stressors while boosting their academic
performance at school.

SCOPE AND DELIMINATION

The scope of this study is the entire Humanities and Social Science
( HUMMS ) students of VMC Asian College Foundation Inc. This
includes grade 11 and grade 12 students enrolled under the strand of
Humanities and Social Science ( HUMSS ) in current academic school
year. Being said, this study is only limited in their academic performance
and mental health.
