CHESS

Basic
PRINCIPLES
1.Control the center.
2.Develop your pieces quickly!
3.Get your king to safety.
4.Connect your rooks.
5.Do not move your queen out too early.
6.Do not move pieces unnecessarily
7.Avoid making too many pawn moves
8.Try not to move the pawns in front of your king
9.Calculate forced moves first
10.Always ask yourself: “ Does he have a chance to
checkmate me or win a piece?”
11.Every after the opponents’ move, always ask yourself
“Why did he move there?
12.If by any chance, you lose a piece, try to get something
for it if you can.
13.WHEN BEHIND, Exchange PAWNS!!!
14.When AHEAD, Exchange PIECES!!!
15.If you are losing, Don’t give up! Look for counter-play.
16.Do not sacrifice pieces without a good reason, unless you are
TAL (dili ka politician, chess player ka)
17.Do not block-in your bishops!
18.If you are not Fischer, try not to move the same piece twice
or more times in early game.
19.Do not be afraid to exchange pieces if it helps your
development.
20.Do not bring your queen out early.
21.Develop rooks to open files
22.Put rooks behind passed pawns.
23.Don’t castle if it brings your king into great danger.
24.After castling, develop great pawn formation around
your king.
25.If cramped, free your game by exchanging material.
26. If your opponent is cramped, don’t let him get any
freeing exchanges.
27.When it is not your move, use the opponents’ time to
create some tactics and combinations
28.Watch out for forks!
29.What out for discovered checks!
30. Do not create plans and mating patterns without
considering the opponents’ threats.
31.Always play for a win! (but if you are losing, try to find forced
draw)
32.For Kirk, Avoid fighting with your gf, it will affect your game
performance. Always remember! Girls are always right. (maong yes
boss nalang ta pirme aron way gubot.)
33.For Joshua, Lingi2 gamay basin naay gwapahay nga chess player
didto. Sa chess baya mi ngkita sa imo ate hehe.
34.Stay calm and focus and try to gain a momentum.
35. Enjoy every game!
Kirk…
 Do not bullet your opening. (20mins plus 2 ni, dili ni blitz)
 Do not try to remember every line, play with your tactics and ideas in
gaining control over the position. (if wala na nasubay sa imong gitun.an
nga theory)
 Try to remember traps during the opening. Use your time during the
middle, semi blitz during the end game (if and only if your time is below
60 seconds)
 Do not give up that easily, (yahay sila ug mo surrender tag dali)
Joshua…
 Do not stress out yourself (makawala sa focus ang way uyab pero
mas makawala sa focus ug stress atong otok)
 Look for tactics (2 moves ahead if needed)
 Think first the consequences before putting your pieces in that
square ( mao raba jud ni kapildihan nimo ra)
 Continue having solid defense and position. (Dako na kaayo kag
improvement nakita naho na )
