The document discusses Honeywell's participation in the Link 2000+ program and their plans to upgrade various avionics products to support ATN/CPDLC datalink capabilities. It also provides information on typical aircraft modifications required for different datalink systems and capabilities of the Mark II CMU.

The document discusses different datalink systems like Link 2000+, FANS, VDL Mode 2, ATN, CPDLC and how they differ. It provides roadmaps for Honeywell products support for these systems over time.

The document outlines typical minimal changes like connecting new wires between radios and CMU, upgrading CMU and radio, and wiring changes for ATC annunciation when transitioning between VDL Mode 2, Pioneer Phase CPDLC and IR CPDLC. It also provides aircraft change examples.

Typical Aircraft Changes for VDL mode 2

Degree of Changes Depend on Existing Installation: - The older the ACARS configuration (such as ARINC 597) the
more extensive the modification. - Degree of modification may also be dependent on CMU manufacturer solution.

Typical Minimal Set of Changes - Transition to VDL mode 2 AOA:

Connect 429 pair between VHF radio and CMU (may leave ARINC

716 connections in place) Connect source for aircraft ICAO 24 bit address Upgrade or replace ACARS / CMU with VDL mode 2 capable system Upgrade or replace VHF radio with VDL Mode 2 radio

Oct 2007

Typical Aircraft Changes for CPDLC

Transition from VDL Mode 2 to Pioneer Phase CPDLC: - Upgrade CMU to support ATN and CPDLC operation - Wiring Changes: Need for ATC Annunciation (visual / aural).
May require new wires from CMU to new annunciators

for pilot / co-pilot depending on A/C.

or
update Display, such as CDS or EICAS, in forward field

to annunciate ATC messages.

- Transition from Pioneer Phase to IR CPDLC

Upgrade CMU to level C Protected Mode CPDLC.

Future Enhancements for Mark II CMU

AOC enhancements performed for Mark II CMU reused on Airbus ATSU Mark II is initial platform selected by Honeywell to incorporate the largest change in Datalink over the last 10 years ATN based ATC datalink. Continued investment in upgrading Mark II CMU - Demonstrates Honeywell commitment to provide significant
growth path for our Mark II customers

Selected by Honeywell to be initial platform used to prototype new Secure ACARS technology Test flights already conducted. Strategy Invest and provide customers with upgrades to reduce customer life cycle costs.

Mark II CMU Summary

Mark II CMU most popular unit in the industry today - Very robust and flexible system with very large set of AOC

functional capability - Designed for ARINC 758 spec but also compatible with ARINC 724B installations - Honeywell has over 100 ATSU/CMU/ACARS active customers. Includes over 85 customers for our Mark II CMU

Certifications completed also include type certifications at Airbus, Boeing and Douglas as well as various Honeywell STCs. - TCs include: Boeing 717, 737s, 747-400, 757, 767, MD-80, MD-90,
MD-11; Airbus A319, 320, 321, 300, 330, 340 and AVRO - STCs include most aircraft types

Continuing to invest and expand capabilities Can provide operational compatibility between Airbus (ATSU) and non-Airbus Aircraft - Common AOC software in Mark II and Airbus ATSU!
