Marketing of Aq WPS Office

The document discusses several key points about marketing aquaculture products: 1. Market surveys should be conducted prior to large-scale production to understand consumer acceptance, production costs, optimal product form for marketing, and processing costs. 2. Marketing and product development are interrelated - feedback from clients and suppliers can provide insights into what customers like and dislike about a product. 3. A marketing plan should organize strategies, target markets, distribution channels, packaging, branding, and customer service approaches.

MARKETING OF AQUACULTURE PRODUCTS
The fact that aquaculture could undertake market-oriented production
bestows certain specific advantages, but it also underlines the need for
appropriate market surveys prior to large-scale production
programmes. Such surveys should take into account consumer
acceptance, production costs, form in which the product can best be
marketed and processing costs when relevant
Marketing Your

Product
Most market research is a commonsense approach to
knowing where to look for
information and asking the right questions of
the right people
3 stages to the process.
1. Make a factual statement than can’t
be refuted.
2.Make a personal observation that reflects you experience and
creates credibility.
3. is to ask an open-ended question that incorporates the fi rst
two stages. With this technique, you will be
awkward at fi rst, but with a little practice, perhaps in simple conversation with
friends and family, you can easily master it.
Marketing and product development
Marketing and product development go hand-inhand. As
you work with your clients and suppliers, if you don’t have
your head completely
buried in the sand, you will notice things your
customers like and dislike or fi nd awkward
about your product.
Best Practices.
• Strategy
• Organization
• Process
• Design/product optimization

Marketing Yourself
Know thy self is important in where and how
you want to market your product and operation. Let’s
be practical, you will not be able to
sell to every customer, not every potential customer is
going to want your product, so don’t
get bogged down trying to market to everyone
in every way
Packages, Labeling & Point-of-Purchase
Communications
Packaging design usually involves the box or
wrapper that contains the product. Th e primary function is of
course to hold and protect
the product, but it also is a very powerful
selling tool. In a previous section we discussed
visiting a grocery store to do some invaluable
market research.
Dealing with Brokers and
Distributor
Brokers and distributors get your product into
channels. A channel in the established
foodretail system is a business segment or
grouping. Th ere are fi ve to seven established
retail
market channels.
Dealing Directly with
Grocery Store
If you want to directly deal with grocery stores,
you can do well by targeting smaller stores and
independents interested in showcasing local
foods to their customers. Th ese tend to be in
more upscale neighborhoods.
Quality Product/ Quality Ser

Th ese days providing solid customer service

also is paying attention to your customers. It
is easy to forget to do this when concentrating
on making new sales and bigger accounts to
sustain or grow your business.
Creating a Marketing Plan

In the Marketing Your Product section we

touched on what would go into our marketing
plan. So now we have to take each of those
points and get them down on paper. It does
not have to be fi nished in the fi rst draft , just get
ideas on paper and get them organized
