Prime Factorization

1) The document discusses prime factorization, which is expressing a number as the product of its prime factors. 2) It defines prime numbers as numbers greater than 1 that are only divisible by 1 and itself, and explains how to find the prime factors of a number using a factor tree or continuous division by primes. 3) Examples are provided to illustrate prime factorization using these two methods.

PRIME

FACTORIZATION
BY: CIRJANE R. BOY BSED MATH 3-B
OBJECTIVES:
• At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
1. find the prime factors of a number, Skill: Finding the
prime factors of a number,
2. write the prime factors of a given number correctly
and,
3. participate actively in the discussion/activities
PRIME NUMBERS
• Prime numbers are natural numbers that are
divisible by only 1 and the number itself. In other
words, prime numbers are positive integers greater
than 1 with exactly two factors, 1 and the number
itself. Some of the prime numbers include 2, 3, 5, 7,
11, 13,…
ONE IS A PRIME NUMBER OR
NOT?
• One is not a prime number because according to
the definition of prime numbers, any numbers
having only two positive divisors and 1 can only
be divided by one number, 1 itself, so with this
definition 1 is not a prime number.
PRIME FACTORIZATION
• The prime factors of a number are the
multiplication expression using prime numbers
as it’s the prime factors of a number can be
determined using a factor tree or continuous
division by factors Primes.
FACTOR TREE
• Factor Tree are way of expressing the factors of a
number, specially the Prime Factorization of a
number.
• Each branch of the Tree is Split into Factors. Once
the Factor at the end of the branch is a prime
number.
CONTINUOUS DIVISION BY
PRIME
• Continuous Division by Primes or Division Method it
same also in Factor Tree. However, in Factor Tree
you can put any number as long as it can be divisible
by a number, while in division method you should
start with the smallest prime number that divisible
by a number until the quotient becomes 1.
EVALUATION
• Give the Prime Factors of the following numbers
using any method.

2.450
3.980
4.1250
5.1896
