Task 1: Criteria A: Investigating
STEP 1: Criteria AI - Investigate a movement or genre in their chosen art discipline, related to the
statement of inquiry.

For this task, you are going to investigate a movement or subgenre of Pop related to the statement of Inquiry in
your Process Journal. You can provide either a video reflection, written reflection, and/or audio reflection

SOI : Expression and Innovation lead to evolutionary change in music.

You will have to investigate about


- Pop music movements/sub genres selected. (expression)
- Characteristics of Pop Music in the subgenre selected (hooks/chord patterns, etc.)
- Evolution of Pop Music (innovation)

Extension task: Use of technology in music production

Rules: Academic Honesty. JVLR ensures students submit work that is only their own and is not anyone else’s. You
should not be using the internet to research during this task.

For this task, you are going to demonstrate what you have learnt about composition and lyric writing by composing
a piece of Music in a band group.

- A minimum of 2 minutes long


- Follow the characteristics of Pop Music
- Lyrics and chords progressions written in a gdoc
- Using chords of one chord progression (key).
STEP 1: Criteria Bii. Present a clear artistic intention for the final artwork or performance in line
with the statement of inquiry.

You will present an artistic intention

It should include:
● A description of how you will develop each characteristic of Pop Music in your song
● The pop sub genre you will use for your song , e.g rap, hip hop, country etc.
● Explain how your artistic intention connects with the statement of inquiry.
STEP 2: Criteria Ci. Create or perform an artwork.

For this task, you are going to demonstrate what you have learnt about composition and lyric writing by composing
a piece of Music in a band group.
