Procedure For Binning Using Xcal

1. The document describes 3 options for binning drive test data: 1) binning in XCAP, 2) binning in MapInfo, or 3) binning and morphology querying entirely in XCAP. 2. Option 2 is described in more detail, involving exporting raw drive test data to a text file, binning the data in MapInfo at 20m x 20m resolution, querying the bins within a test cluster polygon to map them to morphology classifications, and exporting results to Excel for evaluation. 3. The process involves using MapInfo tools like Grid Maker to create bins, updating bin attribute tables to match clusters and morphologies, filtering bins containing drive test samples, and reporting pass/fail percentages in Excel using thresholds

Binning Process

3 Options of Doing Binning:-

1.Binning of Drive Test Using XCAP in 20m x 20m. End results will be passed on
to Mapinfo to query the morphology mapping
2.Binning of Drive Test Using Mapinfo and query the morphology mapping
3.Binning and query of morpho to be entirely processed in XCAP. This
customized feature needs Samsung to confirm with Innowireless

Pre-Requisite for Morphology Mapping:

- The CLUSTER Polygon in Mapinfo for the Cluster under test
- YTL and Samsung to jointly develop a Morphology Boundary (Eg:
DU,U,SU and RU) in Mapinfo layer
Binning Process: Option 2

The following slides will describe OPTION 2, where :

1)Raw Drive Test data (from XCAL) will be exported to text
file with Positioning, RSSI, Throughput UL and DL
2)Mapinfo will bin the data according to 20m x 20m
resolution using GRID MAKER in Mapinfo. The values will be
averaged within the bin inside the Cluster under test.
3)Mapinfo will query the bin results within the test Cluster
and map them to Morphology Classification.
4)Results will be exported out to Excel for further Bin
pass/fail evaluation
Binning Process: Option 2
These Layers are examples Only

Pink Boundary is the Morpho Layer: U

Example of Cluster under test
Cluster: A1 The Remaining Morpho will be R. Only
Morpho Layer: DU Morpho DU, U and SU will be drawn
Binning Process: Option 2
Run Grid Maker from Mapinfo and create Grid of 20m x 20m

Created grid will cover the whole area of cluster

The grid will be saved to this location
Binning Process: Option 2
Match Grid to Cluster
Create additional Column to Grid Table: - 1) Morpho 2) Cluster 3) KPIs (RSSI, Tput)
Step1
Step2 Add 2 Column via
Add Field button

Step3
After adding the column, the Grid Layer will disappear from map view. Go to Layer control
with right mouse click and add the layer back to the map view
Binning Process: Option 2
Match Grid to Cluster
Click on Menu for :Table – Update Column
Step1 Step2

Step3
The Cluster column will be updated with cluster A1 name.
SQL Query the Cluster Column which is blank (out of
Cluster polygon).
The Query result will show blank. Press DELETE button to
remove
Go to Menu: Table – Maintenance - Pack Table

Step4
Binning Process: Option 2
Grid after Cluster Matching/Trimming
Binning Process: Option 2
Grid to Update with Morphology Step1

The Morpho column will be updated with U, DU or SU. The remaining blank will be R in Step 2-3

Step2 Use SQL Query to Query Blank Step3 Update Column Blank with “R”
Binning Process: Option 2

After Trimming to Cluster and Mapping to Morpho, the final grid will look like this.
Use Thematic to verify the grid if it is correct according to the Legend
Binning Process: Option 2

Repeat for Other KPIs : Throughput

Binning Process: Option 2
For Comparison:
Square colored Bins are averaged
RSSI values. Black dots are
individual Drive Test Samples
Binning Process: Option 2 Step2

Filter out only Bins with Drive Test Results

Step1

The end result on the right will be

exported to Text file for Excel
Processing
Binning Process: Option 2

Reporting will be done using Excel:

Input the RSSI and Throughput threshold for DU, U, SU and R according
to Acceptance Test values.
Bin will be evaluated as Overall Pass Bin % for each of the KPIs
