Course Contents
1. An overview of electric circuit elements (resistors, voltage
sources and current sources).
2. Simple resistive circuits and Basic circuit laws.
3. Methods of analysis: mesh current and node voltage
methods.
4. Circuit theorems: superposition, network reduction,
Thevenin and Norton theorems, and maximum power
transfer.
5. Single phase sinusoidal steady state analysis, inductors,
capacitors.
6. power calculations.
7. power factor correction

Course Learning Objectives
1. Study the main Circuit elements, voltage and current
sources.
2. Study simple resistive circuits and Basic circuit laws.
3. Analyze electric circuit using methods of analysis such
as mesh current and node voltage methods.
4. Analyze electric circuit using circuit theorems such as
superposition, network reduction, Thevenin and
Norton theorems, and maximum power transfer.

Preface
• The electric circuit principles is the first important
step required to study any course related to
electrical engineering branch.

• In electrical engineering, we are often interested in


communicating or transferring energy from one
point to another.

• To do this requires an interconnection of electric


devices: such interconnection is referred to an
electric circuit, and each component of the circuit is
known as an element.
