Directions: Read and understand the

word problem inside the box. Then,
supply the missing information using
AGONA.
!
The Brgy. Macatingog Council and
Officials conducted a General
Assembly,180 people attended.
Among them, 30% were female.
How many were female
attendees?

Visualizing, Identifying
and Describing Polygons with
5 or More Sides
(M5GE - IIIc -19)
LINE
A line is a group of points.
The points in a line may extend infinitely.

TYPES OF POLYGON
POLYGONS
Polygons are shapes formed with 3
or more straight lines. These straight
lines used to form the shape are called
sides and the common point where the
sides meet is called vertex.
TRIANGLE
is a polygon with three
sides and angles.
QUADRILATERAL
is a polygon with four sides and angles.

parallelogram trapezoid
PENTAGON
is a polygon with five
sides and angles.
HEXAGON
is a polygon with six
sides and angles.
HEPTAGON
is a polygon with
seven sides and
angles.
OCTAGON
is a polygon with eight
sides and angles.
NONAGON
is a polygon with nine
sides and angles.
DECAGON
is a polygon with ten
sides and angles.
UNDECAGON
is a polygon with
eleven sides and
angles.
DODECAGON
is a polygon with
twelve sides and
angles.
ACTIVITY 1
ASSESSMENT

Directions: Copy the table below. Count the

number of sides in each polygon. Name the
polygon. The first item is already answered
for you as a guide.

DAY 2
REVIEW

Directions: Look at the picture on the

right. It shows a “house facade”. Create
your own house facade on a separate
sheet of paper. Use at least 5 different
kinds of polygons. !
REVIEW
Color your work using the legend below.
octagon(s) = blue
heptagon(s)= green
quadrilateral(s)= pink
triangle(s)= red
hexagon(s)= yellow
!
pentagon(s) = brown
Can you determine what these are and where
you typically see them?
REGULAR AND
IRREGULAR POLYGONS
(M5GE - IIIC -20)
POLYGON
A polygon is said to be regular if its sides and
angles are equal. If a polygon does not have
equal sides and angles, it is called irregular
polygon.
Look at the polygons below.
Polygon A is a regular polygon because
its sides have the same length, and its
angles are equal. Polygon B is irregular
because the length of its sides and
angles have different measurements.
However, polygon A and polygon B can
still be classified as pentagons
because both of them have 5 sides.
The markings (/,//,///) and the given
measurements of the polygons can
help you determine if they are
regular or irregular. Here are other
examples of regular and irregular
polygons.
ACTIVITY 2
Directions: Identify the kind of polygon being
described. Choose your answer from the box.
equilateral triangle rhombus
trapezoid isosceles triangle
square Regular Hexagon
ACTIVITY 2
1) I am a 3-sided polygon with congruent sides.

2) I have one pair of parallel sides.

3) I am a six-sided polygon. All my sides are

congruent.
ACTIVITY 2
4) I am a 3-sided polygon with 2 congruent
sides.

5) My 4 sides are equal. All my sides form

right angles.
ASSESSMENT

Directions: Read for each figure, count the

number of sides, name the polygon and
identify if it is regular or irregular.

Quarter 3 Week 3

DAY 3
REVIEW

Directions: Name each polygon by the

number of its sides. Tell whether it is
regular or irregular.
!
THINK OUT OF THE BOX!
Why do bees make hexagons
in their hives?

GROUP ACTIVITY

1. The teacher will group the class into five

(5) groups.

2. Each group will measure five (5) polygons

inside the classroom using meter stick,
protractor, and ruler.
GROUP ACTIVITY
3. The learners will draw the polygons in a
one whole sheet of paper with their
measurements.

4. The learners will identify whether the

polygon is regular or irregular.
ACTIVITY 2
4) I am a 3-sided polygon with 2 congruent
sides.

5) My 4 sides are equal. All my sides form

right angles.
ASSESSMENT

Directions: Identify the following

polygons. Write R if the polygon is
regular and I if it is irregular.

Quarter 3 Week 3

DAY 4
REVIEW

Directions: Name each polygon inside the

grid paper. Tell whether it is a regular or
an irregular polygon.
!
What do you observe in these
two pictures?
CONGRUENT POLYGONS
(M5GE - IIId -22)
CONGRUENT POLYGONS
Congruent means exactly equal.
In geometry, polygons are congruent if;
a. the shapes and sizes are the same,
b. tracing of 1 fits the other, and
c. their corresponding angles and sides
are the same. Here are examples of
congruent polygons.
Here are examples of congruent
polygons.
ACTIVITY 4
Directions: Encircle the figures that appear to
be congruent.
ACTIVITY 4
ASSESSMENT

Directions: For items 1 -5: Analyze the

given polygons if they are congruent
or not. Write Yes or No only for your
answers.
