Linear permutation Circular permutation
permutation
1. Linear permutation
- refers to the number of ordered arrangement of objects in a
line.
- The number of permutations of elements selected from a set of
elements is denoted by the symbols, , or . Generally, it is
illustrated by the formula:
𝒏!
𝑷 ( 𝒏 ,𝒓 ) = 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒏 ≥ 𝒓
(𝒏−𝒓 )!
Factorial notation
- The factorial notation (symbol:!) is the process of multiplying
consecutive decreasing whole numbers from an identified
number down to one.
𝒏!=𝒏 ( 𝒏−𝟏 ) ( 𝒏− 𝟐 )( 𝒏 −𝟑 ) …(𝟑)( 𝟐)( 𝟏)
Example:
1. 321 𝟏𝟐𝟎
2. 321 𝟕𝟐𝟎
3. 𝟏 𝟏
