5.5. Deciding When To
Study
Study at the time you are most alert:
Keep a comfortable mind and determine
the time when you are most alert to
study.
Review and correct class notes immediately after
class: retain learned knowledge longer, making
studying more effective and easier to review
when there are tests.
Study about lecture topics immediately before
class: Better understand the lesson structure,
master the lesson content, and identify important
parts to focus on,...
Try learning information just before you
go to sleep: Remember more and longer
information than at other times.
Divide long hours study sessions into short hours
study sessions: Increase the ability to concentrate
and remember longer, reduce stress.
Take a five or ten-minute break every hour when
you have to study continuously for many hours:
You can exercise, take a walk or listen to a song,
sweep the house,...
5.6. Making better use of time
Nowadays, there are very few people who know how to use their time in the
most reasonable and effective way. Therefore, that trend appears less and less in
generations of students. The vast majority of them have the problem of not
knowing how to grasp their study time and how to take advantage of their free
time outside of school hours.

here ?
2
As a university student we need to
know:
1. How to make effective use of your schedule?
2. How to avoid wasting too much
time on things that are not useful?

3. How to use time to bring the best results for

yourself?.
To solve the above problems , we have the
following ways :
Do Two Things at Once Use Short Periods
• Five minutes : you could clean your desk , watch a
• Review old lessons while sweeping the short TED talk , take out the garbage , drink water.
floor or walking • Fifteen minutes : review schedule , preview new

• When resting , can listen to Podcast lessons , read books , watch today’s news , hang

• Exercise while thinking about your laundry , exercise .

• Thirty minutes : prepare new lessons , learn
schedule for today
English through songs , job , do housework , learn
• Listen to english muic while doing
more vocabulary , cook
household chores
In addition , to get the best result for studying , we can take
advantage of the following “ GOLDEN HOURS” :

• 5:00-7:00: the most focused, easy-to-memorize time frame that can

be used in learning vocabulary

• 12:00-13:00: This time can be used to learn and practice listening

while entertaining yourself through European and American movies
or listening to favorite songs.

• After 8:00 p.m: the time frame when the brain is

most active can be used to learn other skills
such as speaking, writing, grammar, ...
Example:
I have a friend named Thanh Ngan, she is a very good person at saving and
using her working and studying time. For example :
-She gets up early every day to go for a walk in the park and
arrange her day's schedule.
-After each class she often reread her notes
while going to the garage
-Every time she drives me to school , I will ask about the schedule and
review old lessons with her.
-Every night after 8:00 p.m , she and i often study together via Zalo, Messenger,...
-Every
Saturday, after leaving informatics class, she will visit small bookstores to kill
time
7. BALANCING YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
