PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT (PRE FINALS)
LESSON OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the students should be able to a.Discuss the process of effective directing; b.Discuss how to create a motivating work environment ; c.Define the procedures in developing a motivating environment; d.Discuss the barriers to effective communication; Directing Providing the right direction of human and material resources towards the achievement of define goals and objectives. It is the directional map or sequence of action that deliver the most effective system of company operation. This sequence of action is based on plans and programs laid down by company executives. Process of Effective Directing Coordination Coordination is the result of effective planning activities done in consultation with different levels in the management hierarchy . Balancing Everything is provided to support the desired objectives. Adequate support in terms of materials, manpower skills, and other staff assistance are needed. Balancing concerns for people and production is a must. Timing The execution of the activities on prepared schedule baring variances. It is setting time standards for the activities that needs to be done. Time wasted is time lost. Time management must be practiced at all levels. Integration Effective coordination needs the integration of all unrelated tasks. It has to be brought together if work is to be accomplished effectively. Integrated effort is the result of good teamwork. It is created by integration of people values and motivates to contribute to group goals. Motivation is the state of an individual’s willingness to do the job without mental reservation. Directing is the process of leading, guiding, instructing, supervising, and motivating employees in order to achieve the goals of an organization. Recognition
