TYPES of

PICTORIAL
DRAWING
Isometric Drawing – the word
isometric derived from the word
iso
which means “equal” and metrum
which means “to measure”.
The isometric drawing is a drawing
wherein the object is represented
by three sides seen at one time.
Oblique Drawing – is similar to an
isometric drawing because it also
has three axes representing three
mutually perpendicular edges,
upon which measurements can be
made.
Kinds of Oblique Drawing
 Cavalier Drawing – its receeding lines are drawn at angle of
45 degrees or 30 degrees and are measured in their
dimension.
 Cabinet Drawing – the scale of the receeding axis is
reduced by half.
Perspective Drawing - is the
representation of an object as it appears
to an observer at a
Particular position related to the object.
Among the types of pictorial drawing,
perspective drawing is more pleasing and
has a more realistic effect than oblique
drawing or axonometric projection.
Terms and Abbreviation in Perspective
Drawing
• Plane – this is an imaginary flat surface which
has length and width but no thickness.
• Station Point (SP) – the place or point where the
observer is supposed to stand while viewing the
object.
• Picture Plane (PP) – the imaginary flat surface is
usually located between the station point (SP)
and the object being viewed.
• Ground Plane (GP) – this is the plane which is at
level or in line with the eye.
• Ground Line (GL) – this is the intersection of the
ground plane and the picture plane
• Horizon Plane (HP)– this is the intersection of the
horizon and the picture plane
• Axis of Vision – the line through the station that is
perpendicular to the picture plane.
• Center of Vision – it is the piercing point of the
axis of vision with the picture plane.
• Vanishing Point – this is the point where the edges
seem to converge or meet.
