CHAPTER – II QUALITIES COMMON TO ALL COMD
In the second chapter the qualities like integrity, will power, energy and
professionalism are explained by the author which are common to all
ledrs. Our integrity lvl should be up to that extent that our men in
command must feel that his comd will give him justice. Physical and
moral courage is the currency of mil men. However, the degree of moral
courage that is req is different for Jnr and Snr comd. An officer cannot be
energetic unless he is phy fit, and offr should be careful of misplaced use
of energy. About professionalism Napoleon once said. “My sldrs follow
me not because I am brave but because I am well read”. The more one
read the more he will develop the intellect
CHAPTER – III SETTING AN EXAMPLE
A leader must lead by personal example. He should be truthful and

humble in his dealing. His under comd must trust on him all the time.
He should treat all of his UC without any difference.
CHAPTER – IV THE LED
As already said that, our Army has had its roots in the past, the British
Indian Army. Britain was the greatest colonel power on earth it is because
her offrs had those qualities which made her into such a power. Some of
those qualities are
 Thanking ahead
 Physical Fitness
 The imp of e-Spirit the Corps
 Professionalism
 Education
 Broad outlook
 Indignity
These are the aspects which can make someone a good ldr.
CHAPTER – V MAN MANAGEMENT
Good men management will lead to good moral. Look after your men
because he is your first wpn in battle. Try to know their problems and
then try to solve them. By this ldr can win trust of his sldrs. For this
propose all offrs should make it a point of studying his men’s
background, his home area, his environment his mantel make up and his
economic back ground.
CHAPTER – VI TRAINING
Trg can be most interesting and absorbing only if imaginatively

planned, cared out and supervise. There will never be enough time to
teach every subject that is required to be learned in a training year.
Therefore, one has to concentrate on the essentials. The essentials are
discp, Phy fitness, technical skills and battle crafts.
CHAPTER – VII DISCIPLINE
Discp is a subject dear to all sldrs. Discp is created by two chief

elements, a law for the good of the many and its rigid enforcement.
Therefore, obedience is the first requisite of good discp. A young offr
should try to inculcate self discp in himself as well as in his UC. He
should teach the correct way of doing things and the reason for doing
these things in a particular way
CHAPTER – VIII OUR RELIGION
As our state basically came into being because of Islam and our Army is
a Muslim Army, so this subject must be given more importance. An offr
must realize that in a battle or any danger there is more religion in the
front line. It is our religion that make us mile stone in front of our enemy.
Because our there we have the motivation of SHAHDAT which have
highest imp in the eyes of Allah. But before this we all need to practice
the basic teaching of Islam in peace time.
REASON FOR SELECTION
As this book consist of the basic rules and teachings for Jnr ldr, and by
following those one can be a successful ldr. So being a Jnr ldr it selected
this book.
ANALYSIS
Overall this book is good one, but if we look towards the explanations
and examples which are given against each character treat are less and
not well briefed. Secondly there are a lot of examples from Islamic history
which are ignored in this book regarding ldrs and Islamic battles.
RECOM
Keeping in view the imp of this book the fol are recommended
 More examples and brief explanation of the topics

 Additions of Islamic history, Battles and Muslim ldrs.
CONCLUSION
There can never be a final judgment on the factors that are req to make
good leaders. New ideas are being made which may be a good
approach towards leadership. The author has highlighted the basic
qualities which every offr must possess. These qualities are integrity,
coverage, character, will power, energy sating personal examples,
training and discp. Without these qualities one can never be a successful
ldrs.
