What is the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and operations?

Before Diving into D365 let us understand what is ERP?

Ans: So ERP is some kind of enterprise resource planning.

Scenario:
1. As a Business Person, You need to have some kind of Information/Handy
•Capital
•Resource Planning (Most Important) to maintain everything
•Good place to start the Business

•To Get a Good Profit, need to maintain the resources (people and other assets)
• So for any company, if you don't have a planning, you will not be able to get a success out of that. See the
main business motive is to get a profit.
• Everything needs to be managed in a proper planning way
• After understanding the motive, we need to follow certain steps
• So in our ERP there is a step by step activity which companies has to follow
• So if any person wanted to start their business they have to buy a ERP product so that they will be able to
follow the ERP instructions to get a profit.
• So there are many ERP products are available in the outside market. For example:-

• There are unknown ERP software also available for less price with less memory.
• Company will select a particular ERP product for their business, and they are making use of that.
• why should I need to fetch my Microsoft Dynamics 365/Ax? Only?

HISTORY OF MS DYNAMICS AX/365


• Microsoft Dynamics Ax has been introduced in 1992 by two companies together IBM and Damgaard as
IBM Axapta.
• Both the companies has been started this particular Microsoft dynamics.
• Later in the year 2002, they have handed over the application to Microsoft.
• And from there MS started innovating the things and they started doing research as like what new feature
can be added and as a result which business will impact.
• Various Industry and sector exist.
• To get fit into the industry/sector the application has to be flexible
• If any feature does not exist for any sector, the prospective client will not purchase the same.
• So that is why Microsoft keep doing a innovations and they will keep investing some money to get a new
features out of the product.

VERSION OR MODEL
1. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 – Introduced in 2002 (Right after acquisition from IBM and Damgaard)
Availability: Currently License Not Available. Managing on their own.
(Market Availability – 5%-10% only)
Environment: Stand alone Application identical to Tally. Very Less Functionality, View: Vertical Mode.
2. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 – Introduced after 2002
Availability: Yes, but it has been announced that support will be stopped very soon from Microsoft
(Market Availability – 40%-50% of Global Business)
Environment: On premise (DB server is in Company Location only) – Login from Office only.
3. Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O: Latest Version (Currently Running and Dominating the Market)
Availability: Yes from all aspects
Market Availability – more than 50%
Environment: Cloud (DB server is in MS Cloud) – Login can be done from anywhere.

If Client wants to Change the version, than data needs to be Migrated

•Existing Project enhancing the functionality
•Want a good relation with MS team or receiving support
•Migration to higher version to enjoy the additional feature of latest version
•Required skilful consultant to make use of the latest version activity (migration)
•From the Lower Version to Higher Version is known as Rollout Project
•Mini Implementation project
•Duration – Minimum 4 months, maximum 1 year
SUPPORT PROJECT
•Need to understand the product well.
•Implementation team can only provide support.
•OR
•Hire individual consultant and ask them support
•Duration: Depends upon the company’s project say 1 year, 10 year, 15 years

Difference between consultant and end-user


•Consultant having more knowledge
•Responsible for doing configuration/setup and validating the application
•Consultant should know all the modules pertaining to specific domain
•End user will do the transaction posting
•End user will have different role based on the module
