Traits refer to the inherited and acquired character of a person.
These are components of a person's behavior that describe his/her
enduring personal characteristics. Some of these are already
inherent in the person and some are obtained through formal and
informal training. These are also acquired through interaction with
people and surroundings, through suggestions, imitation, other
learning strategies.
William Bygrave, an American scholar who has
done work on entrepreneurship, gives 10
entrepreneurial traits.
Self-awareness - this is knowing yourself — your strengths and
weakness, what you can do, what you know, what you would
like to do in the future.
Self-motivation - having the drive to expand your knowledge,

sharpen your skills, and improve yourself depends on how
intense your urge and interest are.
Courage - means being brave or fearless. A successful entrepreneur draws
take the risk in business.
Confidence - a trait that makes good impression on other people. An

entrepreneur who exudes confidence gives the impression that he/she is
certain of his/her actions and can be trusted and relied on.
Patience - tests an entrepreneur's tolerance in handling persistent

problems involving personnel, production, marketing, financing, and the
like. Being patient requires waiting, and inconvenience is part of the
challenges of an entrepreneur may face.
Perseverance - an entrepreneur can hold fast and
strong to their position, especially amid the many
problems besetting the business.
Hard work - is an industrious person who does not

count the number of hours of work. They work with
patience and intensity until the work sees its
completion.
Decisiveness - an entrepreneur must be knowledgeable and experienced
to make the right decisions at the right time with the right people. At
times, when immediate decisions are to be made, they can follow their
intuition and trust themselves on it.
Integrity - a successful entrepreneur is honest not only to themselves

but to everyone related to business. They do what is right, even when
others are doing what is wrong.
Optimism - entrepreneur looks at the bright side of things or situations,

even in the midst of the business being down.
ENTREPRENEURIAL
LIFESTYLE
A person's lifestyle affects the way they run a business. The
entrepreneurial lifestyle is a major factor in putting up and
operating a business. Managing work and personal life is a
big challenge. The entrepreneur's lifestyle has much to do
with how to overcome this challenge to strengthen the
chance of business success.
Some authorities in business believe that the lifestyle of an
entrepreneur revolves around the following:
Passion - if they are passionate about becoming an entrepreneur,

then they will exercise all means of putting up their own business.
Time - as an entrepreneur, they can make their schedule depending

on the demand of the business. A dedicated entrepreneur works on
a flexible schedule and moves away from the traditional 8-5
working hours.
Control of Finances - an entrepreneur does not receive a fixed salary
like a regular employee. The income depends on the profit of the
business. Being in control of finances is both freedom and
responsibility. One has the freedom to use the money where one wants
to, but it is a responsibility to see it that the money is used to fulfill
obligations.
Personal Growth - adopting the life of an entrepreneur is a crucial

decision in life because it means giving up some personal freedom and
privileges. A lot of sacrifices are to be made in meeting this
responsibility, but the rewards are fulfilling once the business is well
established and earning.
