COURSE DESCRIPTION

Development of educational theory and practice; beginning to present.

i) education in ancient societies,

ii) developments from the medieval period to the modern times,

iii) educational developments in Africa from the pre-colonial period to


the present,

iv) educational developments in Kenya from the pre-colonial period to


the present.
OBJECTIVES

1.Explain the importance of history of education in teacher education.


2.Explain the main determinants of education from ancient societies to the
present.
3.Analyze the influence of western education on the evolution of modern
education in Africa.
4.Examine the contribution of great educators to modern education.
