only differ is the color of Lateral marks and lights are
reversed between Region A & B.

Marks
Six types of marks which may be used in
combination: (C L IS S S E & N)

(1) Lateral Mark


•Marks that do not rely on their shape
(2) Cardinal Mark will carry a top mark where possible
(3) Isolated Danger Mark for correct identification
(4) Safe Water Mark
(5) Special Mark
(6) Emergency Wreck Marking Buoy
And New Danger Mark

Lights (R-G-Y-Bl-Bk-W)

 Red and Green are reversed for Lateral Marks.


 Yellow for Special Marks.
 Black and Yellow band for Cardinal Marks.
 Red and White vertical stripes for Safe Water Mark.
 Black and Red band for Isolated Danger Mark.
 Blue and Yellow vertical stripes for Emergency Wreck Marking
Buoy. White for other Marks

Retro reflector
 Retro reflectors are used for unlighted/unlit buoys.
 It intended to produce reflex reflection .
 Its’ shapes are band / square.
 Color is same as mark’s color. Black is replaced
with Blue band.

How to identify the prefer channel (main
channel)
(i)There is two different color on lateral
mark, it mean main and secondary
channel on route.
(ii)“Can” shape - mariner keep in mind that
“can” shape buoy should be kept on his
port side.
(iii)Top mark - shape & color
