INPUT DEVICE
Computer cannot understand our language because it
Understands only machine language and it can be possible
Using some devices are called INPUT DEVICES.
When we work with computer we need to entre data and
Instructions to the computer using these devices.
These devices convert data and instructions to a form
that can be recognized by the computer.
Types Of Input Devices

– Keyboard
– Mouse
– Scanner
– Joystick
– Digital Camera
– Touchscreen
– Light Pen
Keyboard

Keyboard is the most commonly use input devices.


They allow data entry into a computer system by pressing a
Set of keys neatly mounted on a keyboard.
Contains some extra commands keys and fuctions keys
That affect the operation of computer or keyboard itself.
Types of keyboard:
1) Standard keyboard
2) Multimedia Keyboard
3) Wireless keyboard
Mouse

Mouse is the most popular point-and-drae device


It is a must-have input device on modern personals Computers.
Has 2 or 3 buttons and can be clicked on double-clicked to Perform tasks.
Optical mouse doesn’t have a ball but uses a laser to sense the motion
Types of mouse:
1) Serial mouse
2) PS/2 mouse
3) Optical mouse
4) Wireless mouse
Scanner

Data scanning device are inputs devices used for direct data entry into a computer
system from source documents.
Common scanner devices are :
1) Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MIRC)
2) Optical Mark Reader (OMR) scanner
3) Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scanner
4) Barcode Reader
Joystick

– A joystick is a pointing device that works on the principle


of trackball.
– To make the movement of the spherical ball easier, it is placed
in a stock with a stick mounted on it.
– On most joystick, a button on the top Is provided to select the
option currently pointed to by the cursor.
– Commonly used for controlling players movements in video
of computer games.
Digital Camera

– A computer with vision – device consists of digital comers


– The camera creates an image of the object in digital form so
that It can stored and interpreted by the computer.
– The digitized image of the object is matched against similarly
– Formed pre-stored images in the computer’s image database.
OUTPUT DEVICES

• An Output device is an electromechanical device that accepts


data from a computer and translates them in suitable form for
the users.
• Output devices generate computer output that can be broadly
classified into two types :-
1) Soft-copy output :- They are temporary in nature
2) Hard-copy output :- They are permanent in nature and can
be kept in paper files or can be looked later when the person
is not using a computer
Types of Output device

– Monitor
– Printer
– Plotter
– Projector
– Voice response system
– Speaker
MONITOR

– Monitor are the most popular output device used today for
producing Soft-copy output.
– A monitor is associated usually with a keyboard and together
they form a Video Display Terminal.
– Two basic types of monitor :-
1) Cathode Ray Tube(CRT)
2) Liquid Crystal Display(LCD)
Printer

– The printer is a device that print text document and images on computer paper
– It is a peripheral output device. Printers can be classified in two group-
