Why Gentle Parenting Is Better For

The Development Of Children

Gentle Parenting Helps Children Develop Independence
Gentle parenting consists of strong boundaries being set by the parent but also
remembering to have empathy. This can help children be more independent as it helps
them build trust with their caregiver, so they are not afraid to explore the world because of
that established safety.
How does gentle parenting achieve this?
● By setting strong boundaries.
● Building a strong sense of trust through predictable outcomes.
● Remembering to have empathy
Gentle Parenting Positively Helps Neurological Development
Gentle parenting helps create a stress free environment as parents have strong boundaries
in this parenting style and still say no, but they try to refrain from yelling and strong
outbursts of negative behavior. This eliminates stress in the home and keeps children from
developing mental health conditions that are often associated with stressful childhoods,
such as depression and PTSD. High levels of stress can also cause many other health
issues such as inflammation being one example. Gentle parenting improves your childrens
health overall as it eliminates one of the biggest threats to your children's health, stress.
How does Gentle parenting achieve this?
● Refraining from overly negative emotional outbursts
● Building a strong sense of trust in safety in the home
Gentle Parenting helps develop greater emotional control in children

Gentle parenting relies largely on leading through example and the exploration of coping
mechanisms. If parents have learned how to emotionally regulate, their children will learn
to do the same through having an example to follow.
How Does Gentle Parenting help develop greater emotional control?
● It leads by example
● It helps introduce children to different coping mechanisms, such as drawing or
playing outside, adults self regulate similarly but in more age appropriate ways by
working out or chatting with a friend.
What Gentle Parenting IS NOT
● Letting your child get away with everything with no consequences
● Attached parenting
● Always saying yes to your child's wants
● “Spoiling” or “babying” your children
How to implement Gentle parenting into your life, even if you aren’t a parent!

● Remember to have empathy with yourself and others

● Be kind, yet set strong boundaries
● Explore your own personal coping mechanisms
● Work on a strong sense of trust in yourself
