AFTER 12 TH

COMMERCE
 What to study after clearing the 12th board exams? That
is a huge question in many of the students’ minds. To
help you sort out the options, we are here to guide you
through career options after studying commerce. Some
of the major lucrative career options are:

 Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)


 This is a 3-year degree course that students opt for
after their 12th class completion. The course
provides knowledge about subjects like Statistics,
Accountancy, Economics, Management etc. You can
get admission to this course, based on your marks
scored in class 12th boards. After B.Com, if you wish
to gain specialisation in specific fields, you can
pursue other courses.
 Bachelor of Economics
 This course too is a 3-year course after 12th
commerce. Here, students learn various analytical
methods used in economic studies and financial
concepts. This is a desirable option for those
wanting to gain knowledge and understanding of
the underlying principles and concepts of
economics. Subjects included in this course are
macroeconomics and microeconomics, statistics,
econometrics, history of economics etc. It is one of
the most fulfilling career options in commerce.
 Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
 BBA course is one of the most pursued courses
amongst students after completing their 12th class.
This is a three-year undergraduate program for
obtaining an education that is based on business
principles and administration. It is a great option for
students who want to run their own businesses or
join corporate companies as all expertise and skills
pertaining to business methodologies and aspects
are taught here.

 Chartered Accountancy (CA)
 You can study for this course which is administered
by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
after completing your 12th class in commerce.
Students need to clear the common proficiency test
to be eligible to sit for the Integrated Professional
Competence Course exam which has a higher
difficulty level. Once you clear these tests, you are
eligible for a 3-year long articleship training
program or an internship that is done under a
qualified CA. The CA Final Course exam is conducted
towards the end of the 3 year internship program
after which you can be a certified CA.
 Chartered Accountancy (CA)
 This course is comparatively more difficult than the
other bachelor courses. The course subjects include
Taxation, Accounting, Cost Accounting and Financial
Management, Advanced Accounting, Business Laws,
Auditing and Assurance, Ethics and Communication,
Strategic Management etc.
 Company Secretary (CS)
 The Company Secretary or CS course is covered
under The Institute of Company Secretaries of India
(ICSI) administration. Students having a keen
interest towards theoretical courses in Law usually
opt for this course. This is a prestigious degree
course that is similar to the CA course in terms of
the different levels to reach the final goal which is
the CS Professional Programme category. During
this course, students get to learn various aspects of
the legal agreements and purposes of companies.
This course’s duration is 3 years.
 Cost and Management Accountant (CMA)
 Similar to the CA course, this professional course
degree is presented by The Institute of Cost
Accountants of India. Just like in CS and CA courses,
the curriculum has 3 tiers; foundation, inter and
final. Each of these levels needs to be cleared by
the students in the same manner as in CS and CA.
Students studying for CMA have to learn subjects
like Cost & Management Accounting, Laws and
Ethics, Fundamentals of Commercial and Industrial
Laws, etc.
 Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
 The Financial Planning Standards Board India (FPSB)
conducts this professional course for students who
have a deep interest in subjects related to financial
planning and want. It covers topics like taxes and
financial planning, retirement planning, insurance,
risk analysis etc. that are useful to become a
financial advisor. This course is a highly sought-after
one by students nowadays.
 Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Market
(BFM)
 This three-year undergraduate degree program
helps to understand subjects like financial markets,
economics, financial modelling, investment analysis
etc.

 Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF)
 Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF) which is
also popularly called B Com Accounting and Finance
is a three-year undergraduate course offering
knowledge in the field of taxation, accounting,
auditing, managerial economics, risk management
business laws etc.
 Bachelor of Banking and Insurance (BBI)
 This undergraduate course which is also for a total
duration of 3 years is divided into six semesters. It
covers subjects related to the banking sector as well
as various other subjects related to commerce and
communication skills through practical and theory
sessions.
