ADVERBIAL CLAUSES
- Adverbial clause is a dependent clause
introduced by an adverbial subordinator.
- It functions as an adverb in sentence

Adverbial clause can be reduced to participle

- When to be reduced:
The subject in two clauses are the same.
Time and Reason clauses can be reduced.
HOW TO REDUCE ADVERBIAL CLAUSE
- Delete the subject in adverbial
clause
- Then change the main verb to V-ing
NOTE:
1. After I had finished my report, I went out with her.
After finishing/having finished my report, I went out
with her.
2. As soon as/when she finished the course, she
booked a tour to Singapore
On/upon finishing the course, she booked a tour to
Singapore.
