Is an art of country race or
navigation using a map and a compass between check points along unfamiliar course or tract. It started in Scandinavia in the late 19th century. It was pioneered by Major Ernst Killander also known as the “Father of Orienteering”. Killander held the first major orienteering competition in March 1919 with 155 participants.
