LDM

The Local Data Manager (LDM) is Unidata's technology for "push" data transmission. Used to move data between computers on whenever a specified condition is met, the LDM is the technology that underlies Unidata's Internet Data Distribution system.

How it Fits

While the LDM is most commonly used to distribute data generated or collected at a central location to a network of other computers, the same technology can be used to collect data from a network of computers in a central location. For example, a observations from sensors in the field might be collected by one or more remote computers, and relayed to a central machine by the LDM for processing or archiving.
