The USAID/Peru’s Global Health Security Project aims to enhance Peru's Global Health Security framework by adopting a comprehensive approach that involves the whole of society and considers the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health (known as One Health).

The goal is to proactively address and reduce the frequency and impact of epidemics, pandemics, and other emerging infectious diseases, as well as other health risks. To achieve this objective, we are focusing our efforts on enhanced health security governance and coordination and increased capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to new and evolving infectious diseases and other health risks.

COVID-19 response

The U.S. Government allocated more than $75.5 million in resources and two million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to assist Peru in its emergency response to COVID-19. The aid continues a strong history of investing in Peru’s health care systems and long-term development, mainly through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
