What can I expect from this experience?
We have designed Winter Welcome to be a comprehensive and exciting experience that helps prepare you for the adjustment to college coursework at UW. Students will be guided through a day-long course with plenty of opportunities to connect with faculty, staff, and of course, the students who will be part of your college journey over the next several years.
Academic Preparedness
Winter Welcome ensures you’re ready for the academic challenges ahead. Equip yourself with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed and just in case, you’ll also work with our premiere faculty and support staff.
Building Community
Winter Welcome aims to create a tight-knit community among new students. Through winter-themed activities and events, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to make new friends and connect with Cowboy Coaches.
Campus Familiarity
Get to know your new home away from home. Winter Welcome includes guided tours and activities that will help you navigate the campus, even when it’s covered in snow. Discover the best study spots, places to unwind and essential facilities.

While there is no cost associated with Winter Welcome, students need to register for the program so that we can prepare accordingly. Students who have signed a spring housing contract, and who participate in Winter Welcome, have the opportunity to move in early on Jan. 15 at no additional cost! These students need to indicate they plan to move in early while registering for Winter Welcome.
