George Jungbluth

National Weather Service (NWS)
George Jungbluth has served as the Director of the NWS Office of Dissemination since February 2024.
In prior roles, George has served as NWS Chief of Staff (2016-2020) and a Senior Advisor (2021-2022). George has been with NOAA since 2008 and, prior to joining NWS, held leadership positions in the National Ocean Service’s Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) and in NESDIS headquarters. George started at NOAA as an International Affairs Specialist for NESDIS, supporting international data exchange for Earth-observing satellites. In 2020, George also served for nine months as the Deputy Director of the Communications Technology Laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology as part of the Department of Commerce Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program.
Prior to joining NOAA, George worked in international corporate and financial communications and international development for USAID grantees.
George is a graduate of the American University Key Executive Development Program, a NOAA Leadership Competencies Development Program alumni, and holds degrees in International Relations and Russian Language from the University of Wisconsin. George lives in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife and two children.
