A storm will pass through the southwestern U.S. this weekend with widespread rain and mountain snow. Rainfall will be mostly beneficial but poses a risk for dangerous debris flows over recent burn scars. A combination of a tight pressure gradient, very strong winds aloft and favorable atmospheric conditions resulted in strong winds on Tuesday December 8th and Wednesday the 9th. The most widepsread high wind event occurred along a cold front that swept across the area Wednesday afternoon and evening. The strong wind caused some blow overs near Lander and Casper. Very little snowfall occurred Tuesday or Wednesday.
