Homelands: Connecting to mounds through Native art

Birthright: A vision into the plight of Southeastern indigenous culture through the eyes of Guernica by John Henry Gloyne

Homelands: Connecting to Mounds through Native Art is co-curated by representatives from four Native Nations connected to Knox County: Cherokee Nation, Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and The Muscogee (Creek) Nation. The three-year exhibition will open in January 2025 and feature contemporary works by 17 Native artists. Todd Steed sat down with Sadie Counts and Catherine Shteynberg to learn more about this unique exhibit.

Todd Steed

A Knoxville native, Todd began working at WUOT in 2006 as jazz coordinator now serves as program director and host of Studio 865/Flipside, Improvisations and Changing Course. Todd's newest podcast is Improvisations to Go. Todd got his start in radio at WUTK, where he served as both news and music director while earning his undergraduate degree in journalism at UT. He later earned a master’s degree in education, also at UT. Recently, Todd was inducted into the East Tennessee Writer's Hall of Fame.
