Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Secondary STEM Education

The MAT in STEM Education brings in educators from within the College of Education faculty and supplements learning with experiences in local high schools. Students will be placed in a practicum school for the fall semester and then in a different school in the spring for student teaching. Upon completion of the MAT in STEM Education, students will receive Kentucky teaching certification for teaching secondary mathematics or science. Master of Science in STEM Education

Designed in collaboration with P-12 school partners, our transdisciplinary Master of Science in STEM Education program provides candidates with individualized coursework, professional development opportunities, and job-embedded experiences culminating in a capstone experience that combines action research, teacher leadership, and innovation.

Candidates will complete a program of studies individualized to their goals and future career desires that consists of 30 credit hours of approved graduate-level coursework, including a 12-credit-hour STEM Education Leadership core, 12-credit-hours of content electives, and 6-credit-hours of additional teacher leadership electives. Learn more about the Master of Science in STEM Education.

Ph.D in Education Sciences, STEM Education Emphasis

The Education Sciences Interdisciplinary Ph.D. with an emphasis in STEM Education is an intensive program designed to prepare future researchers, teacher educators, and researcher-practitioners to meet the national call for more individuals with heightened scholarly expertise in STEM Education. The Education Sciences Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program requires study throughout the year. Full-time study is strongly encouraged; however, part-time study is a possible alternative, particularly for professional educators. Learn more about the Ph.D in Education Sciences, STEM Education Emphasis.
