Rapzilla is a Christian hip hop online magazine.[1] The website contains recent news, albums reviews, articles, interviews, music downloads, videos, release dates, and columns.[2]

History

[edit]

Rapzilla was founded in 2003 by Philip Rood, who was the child of a missionary in Belgium.[2][3]

In 2010, Chad Horton, who ran the similar Christian hip hop site "Hip Hop for the Soul" joined Rapzilla.[3] In 2013, the Gospel Music Association organized the Dove Awards and announced a partnership with Rapzilla.[4] In 2017, Rood sold his ownership of Rapzilla to Horton.[5] In 2019, Rapzilla acquired Christian hip hop blog New H2O.[6]

Rating system

[edit]

According to website owner Chad Horton, reviews by Rapzilla include an averaged rating by the staff to weigh against bias by a reviewer.[7] Additionally, albums that rate lower than 3 or 3.5 are usually not reviewed until their popularity increases.[7]

Awards

[edit]
  • Rapzilla's creator received an Honoree Award at the Holy Hip Hop Awards 2008[8]
