Updated population figure

[edit]

The population figure in the infobox was updated, but the figure used is presumably calculated through addition, as it doesn't appear in the source in itself. Could the calculation be outlined here? Ideally, the table in the article would be updated at the same time so that the basis of the number is clear. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:28, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The figure is calculated by adding numbers of immigrants from Arab league countries. It doesn't take a genius to see that. If you want to update the table, do it. I won't do it. LambdofGod (talk) 15:09, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't look like all of the Arab League countries are included in the table in the source you're citing though. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:13, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Arab League countries are listed in the source: Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, etc... It doesn't take a genius to just add them all. LambdofGod (talk) 07:21, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Beside the sources actually cited do exactly the same: adding all the immigrants from Arab league countries, with the difference that they are very old (2016 and 2015). At this point it's obvious that you are just butthurt at the data showing around 2 millions of Arabs in Germany for whaever reason. You are not arguing with facts and logic, just semantics and feeling hoping I don't see behind your lies.

LambdofGod (talk) 07:28, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop making personal attacks. I don't care what the total number of Arabs in Germany is, just that it's correct. It's perfectly legitimate to add the figures for all the Arab League countries up to get a total. That's what the table does for the current figure. However, the source you're using doesn't appear to have figures for all Arab League countries - where are Sudan, Yemen and Saudi Arabia for instance? Cordless Larry (talk) 07:41, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sudanese and Somalians are too few in Germany to be really relevant. The source comes from German Federal Government and is already cited in multiple articles.LambdofGod (talk) 07:56, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'd not noticed that Somalis were missing. According to the table, they're the fifth largest group included in the current total. There's nothing wrong with the source, but it can't be used to give a total number of Arabs when it doesn't tell us that. If it's being used in other articles to support such a total, then that needs to be removed. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:00, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You got lucky with semantics this time, but the next German census will come out soon. Imagine 3 millions of Arabs in Germany by then. LOL LambdofGod (talk) 21:36, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be very happy for the article to state that there are 3 million Arabs in Germany now, if there's a source that supports it. I have no idea where you've got this idea that I'm trying to minimise the size of the Arab population. Look at my contributions and you'll see that I regularly correct unsupported population estimates in all sorts of demography articles. Cordless Larry (talk) 21:45, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was talking about the future. Notice the future sense, illiterate.
Anyway good luck with your lack of social life. You responded to me after 9 minutes. LOL LambdofGod (talk) 21:52, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've now realised that the source used for 2017 in the table also had figures for 2020, so have updated the table, infobox and lede. Cordless Larry (talk) 22:02, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
