Confusing separation of the abdominal aorta. The abdominal aorta does not split into anterior and posterior branches. The template should be as follows:

abdominal aorta --> anterior midline vascular plane, lateral vascular plane (paired visceral), posterolateral vascular plane (paired parietal), median sacral, left and right common iliac

anterior midline vascular plane --> celiac, superior mesenteric, inferior mesenteric

lateral vascular plane (paired visceral) --> middle suprarenal, renal (inferior suprarenal, ureteral), gonadal (testicular/ovarian)

posterolateral vascular plane (paired parietal) --> inferior phrenic (superior suprarenal), lumbar (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th), subcostal

Edited to better reflect the branches of the aorta as they come off proximally to distally - previous version was too inconsistent. Also added coccygeal glomus back in as it contains the vascular bed that the median sacral artery terminates in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.225.6 (talk) 19:15, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Coccygeal glomus

[edit]

I removed Coccygeal glomus from the template since it is not an artery but an epithelial gland-like body in front of the coccyx. It was listed as a parietal branch of the abdominal aorta. Tilifa Ocaufa (talk) 12:14, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
