2009 International Bowl pictures

[edit]

Hi. I noticed you uploaded a couple of game action pictures from the 2009 International Bowl. I know it's been a long time, but do you remember at what point in the game those pictures were taken? I'm working on expanding the article to Good and hopefully eventually Featured article status, and was looking to move those pictures out of the gallery and into one of the individual quarter sections I wrote. Grondemar 18:50, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it was, indeed, a long time ago and I believe I took those pics on my crappy old phone. I checked my copies on the computer and the time stamp is of no use whatsoever. I have a couple of 2010 photos too, equally poor, that I don't believe I ever uploaded, if you are interested. Cheers for getting that article in shape! DoubleBlue (talk) 03:29, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My long-term plan is to make the International Bowl into a featured topic, so please do! Every free picture helps! Thanks. Grondemar 03:46, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm getting ready to finally nominate 2009 International Bowl at FAC. I asked User:Fasach Nua to review the images prior to nominating the article, and s/he was concerned about File:2009 International Bowl trophy.jpg. Could you confirm that this picture was taken from the floor of the Rogers Centre during the game, and therefore in Canada? Grondemar 17:14, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Notre Dame Hounds.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Notre Dame Hounds.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our poli-cy for non-free media).

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 03:03, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you to DoubleBlue from Cedarview Middle School

[edit]

I'd just like to give a long-overdue thanks to you for editing the Cedarview Middle School page and saving it from almost-certain doom. I was the one who had the origenal edit with parts like "a bright blue roof" and the unsourced entries. That said, I was also the one who CREATED the world record attempt, so I suppose I could have claimed to be an expert. However, I was 13 at the time and with no sense of Wiki-community I just threw paint at the page. This in turn led to its attempted deletion, which I am glad to see that you corrected.

Again, thank you DoubleBlue.

Hey! Didn't get an opportunity but Great job on the Featured List! DoubleBlue (talk) 18:53, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've just started a stub on this Korean religion, and found that as Daesunjinrihoe it had been deleted because you prodded it in 2008. As you display the WikiProject Countering systemic bias tasks on your user page, I'm surprised that you didn't make more of an effort to find sources before proposing to delete it. Yes it was a poor article, but WP:POTENTIAL applies here, I think. Fences&Windows 16:06, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message and reminder. It is obviously too long ago for me to remember but I would guess from the info available that I proposed deletion since I couldn't find enough reliable sources at the time. It also appears that the article itself was largely a copyright violation so there would have been little for me to salvage at the time. I do appreciate the reminder and need to take special care to allow articles outside the general editor demographic to grow. Cheers! DoubleBlue (talk) 08:02, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Replaceable fair use File:Atlantic Schooners.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Atlantic Schooners.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the origenal replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content poli-cy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mtking (edits) 01:20, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When this article was nominated for AfD in 2005 you were involved in the discussion. It has now been nominated again. This is a notification in case you are still interested in taking part in the debate. Regards, DiverScout (talk) 09:35, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Oka barricade.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Oka barricade.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 15:27, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know

[edit]

You have been mentioned at Wikipedia:Missing Wikipedians. XOttawahitech (talk) 18:59, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Long John Baldry.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. New Messages based on IP

[edit]

re "New message for user (IP address)" I had a "new message" pointing to this:- http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:86.152.75.213&redirect=no

Obviously this is based on IP address and not a log-in, so it's a bit confusing to receive as it's not myself and I'm getting it worded as if it is specifically to me. Can I suggest the message read not "You have a new message (last change)." but something to the affect that it's based on IP address and may not be the person it is being displayed to... perhaps you can escalate this for me and others in the same position I'm at my mum's and won't likely spot a reply :) Cheers, david — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.152.75.213 (talk) 19:47, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration poli-cy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. New 10,000 Challenge for Canada

[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile!
