[edit]From Malay jaringan, equivalent to jaring + -an.
- Sense of network beside of fabric or fibrous sense is a semantic loan from Dutch netwerk and later English network.
- Sense of biological tissue is a semantic loan from Dutch weefsel (“tissue, fabric”, literally “to weave + perform, action, result”).
