- A Japanese dish of thinly-sliced beef and tofu with dashi, mirin and soy sauce cooked quickly at the table.
- 1991, John O. Coote, Submariner, page 206:
- We played golf all day and lived Japanese-style after the massage and paper-and-scissors games with the geishas who cooked our sukiyakis.
