Many people with the emotional difficulties described above also struggle with alcohol and substance use; in fact, alcohol and substances are often used to cope with strong emotions. At the Harris Center, our treatments are designed to help patients overcome the full range of emotion-related problems, including the use of alcohol and other substances. However, sometimes alcohol and substance use are better treated with different approaches (i.e., detoxification, medication-assisted treatment); we will help you determine if our services are the best fit for you and provide referrals if your difficulties are better treated elsewhere.
