Group Therapy

Group therapy involves one or more therapists who lead a group of roughly 6-10 patients. Typically, groups meet for an hour or two each week. Some people attend individual therapy in addition to groups, while others participate in groups only.

Memory, Aging, and Cognition Group: Fall 2024 recruitment is open!
Focus: Provide education and evidence-based skills to promote healthy brains and improved thinking and memory for healthy adults aged 65 years or older
Format: 7 weekly, 120 minute sessions 
Content: Topics include the science of memory, health and lifestyle factors for memory, memory strategies, and the application of memory strategies in real life. 
 
Social Anxiety Group: Fall 2024 recruitment is closed! Look back in the future for new openings!
Focus: Coping skills for individuals struggling with social anxiety 
Format: 10 weekly, 90 minute sessions 
Content: Topics include challenging anxious thoughts, learning how to better engage in social situations, and practicing coping skills. Sessions consist of lectures, skills practice, discussion, and homework activities.
 
Dialectical Behavior Therapy: Group is offered on a regular basis
Focus: Coping skills training for persons with emotion regulation difficulties, impulsive behaviors, and interpersonal difficulties
Format: Weekly group and individual sessions for one year for adults
Content: Topics include regulating emotions, being more effective in relationships, and dealing with stressful situations. Sessions consist of lectures, discussion, and homework activities.
