Hispanics in Nursing The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) is profiling Hispanic nurses in a new radio campaign -- Carreras en Enfermería / Hispanics in Nursing -- to spark the interest of persons looking for rewarding and fulfilling career opportunities to grow professionally as a nurse.

Silvia Muñoz is attending Resurrection University’s College of Nursing and Allied Health in Chicago, Illinois. Silvia is very passionate about the nursing field and enjoys interacting with patients as part of the her profession. Despite challenges, she is committed to finish nursing school because she strongly feels there is a need for Spanish-speaking nurses to serve patients with limited English proficiency skills here in the U.S. Silvia is a new member of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) and finds the association to be an important resource for scholarships.
Out of the 3,000,000 registered nurses in the U.S., Hispanics represent only 3.6% even though Hispanics make up 17% of the U.S. population. Many Hispanic students and parents are not aware of the multiple opportunities that exist in the nursing fields.
