This was a good entry! Solid little game, and you did a good job adding in the elements for the round. One tweak I'd recommend would be to slow down the fire rate for the stun gun a bit, since if you got hit once it was really easy to get stuck for a long time. One other thing I'd recommend just for rating purposes is to have the projectiles and animal show up earlier in the game. In a jam like this there's always a chance that someone isn't good enough at your game to reach the boss fight, so someone could get partway through and think "I didn't see any animals" and dock you points. Great game overall though!
The game itself was really good, the platforming mechanics were awesome and it felt awesome to play. Got into a real flow state jumping up the map and you nailed the main game loop. I didn't come across any bugs during my playthrough. You had a story and you added in a cool animal boss fight at the end. No real criticism other than some of the sounds were a little loud for headphone users, you could maybe look at tweaking them and making sure the main game music is at the same level of loudness as the boss fight, it made me jump! Overall you did a great job. Well done!
This was one of my fav entries from round 1. But I am not sure if it very well aligned with the criterias as much as I would have wanted it to be especially with the projectile, although it is somewhat aligned. And yes this game is free from bugs (at least I did not come across any). Escaping the lava was fun !
Good additions to the game from the last round. I appreciate the space to jump as well as the w. Fun game with a story. The projectiles and animal were all there, good work!
Love to see this project working its way through the ranks! I appreciated the ability to read through the story elements at my own pace. The platforming has come a long way since last round as well! Can't wait to see what's next for you.
with this game probably nothing but i want to make the devlog soon
Every game you make is stepping stone in the gamedev journey!
thanks
That was a fun. I think you've a got in interesting idea overall.
You might to try having the blocks that can be placed use the jump-thru behavior instead of solid. It's a little more forgiving to your players who are already being chased by lava ;) Just a thought.
well i tried to add that but it broke the game
So its solid
The platforming feels good, but I'm getting a lot of lag hitches when playing it in my browser that makes me miss some jumps.
Ah, I remember playing this in the first round. What a fantastic improvement! I absolutely adore the extended game loop of managing your moveable platform, whilst trying to outrun the rising lava. The enemies didn't add all that much, but the boss fight at the end was fairly fun! I understand why you made a big text wall, considering I did almost the same thing, but it's still makes the story feel rushed. You did fantastic!
This was fun. The platforming felt good although I never really felt like the lava was a threat. The story felt a bit shoved into the game as it was just a lot of text at the start which I decided to skip halfway through. I'm assuming the boss was the animal but there was nothing really 'animal' about it. I also didn't really like the boss because it didn't really align with the games mechanics, like the platforming, and it took me two minutes to realize I had to touch it to deal damage as touching enemies is actively discourage in the game. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, well done.
Fun game but I couldnt play more because it crashes my browser HARD in less than a minute. A bit more from a fresh boot, but it eventually crashes. unfortunately. Anyone else with this problem?
hi sorry to see that idk where is the problem becose for me it works perfectli fine
pretty cool platforming, i think you should focus more on visuals but thats a nitpick, also it doesnt effect the round criteria
yeah i know i just wanted to finish the game so i added sfx
The platforming were already good during they first round but I feel like the threat of lava really added something to it. At first I thought lava was rising too slowly and didn't really care about it, but at the end I failed a little and was panicking that it would get me. I also like your character art.
The platforming feels great. I made it all the way to the end 😁
I agree with some of the others that the story felt secondary. I saw the enemies shooting projectiles,
but I didn't see the animal past the intro. Maybe the enemies were animals and I didn't realize.the animal is the boss at the end of the game
Wow. Apologies, I totally missed the boss 😅 I closed it when the yellow door said "This is the end". I went back and beat it now & revised my feedback.
First, I love to see other C3 Programmers in the Jam!
Second: This was one of my favorite platformers from round 1. Normally, I'm pretty terrible at them, but I think I did alright here - your jumping/speed mechanics are great.
My only issue would be the round 2 requirements (story, projectiles, and animal) all feel secondary in this version. I think if you could integrate them more throughout the gameplay it would help with scoring.
Still, I really enjoyed playing this, especially being chased by the lava. Well done.
the animal is the boss at the end of the game
Thanks for letting me know. I missed that ending. Still, really run play former and I will adjust my scoring.
This was a fun platformer! I wish it didn't lag so much so that I could finish the story. Once I got to level 4, I couldn't continue because of the lag.
