  “He has a Samsung, I knew it!”

  profoundly unserious movie, an almost 80 year old Kitano reflecting his auteur side and his comedian side against each other to often hysterical effects. answering the question of “how many gags can you fit into a shot-for-shot remake of a dramatic story” with “one in nearly every shot” because you’re bored, goat things. i’d almost want to go over the stuff that made me laugh but the surprise is half the appeal. lots of fun, the best of the year so far
