Probably a good starter movie if you’re new to Director Hong: a fair amount of it is in English, the outdoor shots of Cannes are gorgeous, and it gets at many of Hong’s regular themes. Isabelle Huppert is a delight, and so is Kim Minhee.
In Another Country, also with Isabelle Huppert, is also a good one t start with. It was the first one I saw and it made me seek out more of Hong’s work.
But The Novelist’s Film is my absolute favorite so far.
