Kent Brouwer, DNP, AGACNP-BC, APRN

Dr. Kent Brouwer completed his BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015. After completing the Second-Degree BSN program in 2018 at the UK College of Nursing, he entered the Acute Care DNP Program.
Currently, Dr. Brouwer is the course coordinator for Medical-Surgical Nursing I for the traditional BSN program. He also works at Baptist health Lexington as an acute care nurse practitioner with the pre-op medicine team. Dr. Brouwer has had the privilege of working closely with the faculty and staff at the UK Center for Interprofessional Education (IPE), which has helped shape his personal and professional goals. Dr. Brouwer plays an active role as an IPE advocate in the College of Nursing and sits on numerous committees involving self-care and wellness at the College and across the UK campus. He is interested in addressing burnout among nurses, and specifically utilizing mindfulness techniques to combat this growing epidemic. Dr. Brouwer has presented poster and invited podium presentations at numerous conferences on the issue of combatting burnout within the acute care nursing setting. Dr. Brouwer is a member of the ANA, KNA and Sigma Theta Tau.
