The acquisition does not change the current Dopplr service which is available at Dopplr.com and on platforms where Dopplr is integrated, like Flickr and Twitter. As always, if you so wish, you can get a copy of your data from your account.
The slow death of Dopplr
Founded in Finland early in 2007, Dopplr was the great white, beautiful hope of the UK startup scene … So what could go wrong? … In a word: Nokia.
The Finnish mobile manufacturer … paid a rumoured $20m (give or take a few million) for the service almost exactly a year ago, with a deal that closed on 28 September, 2009.
Since then, Dopplr has fallen completely out of the web’s view. Its blog has not been updated since two days after the acquisition.
Dear Dopplr user,
As of November 1st, 2013 we will be discontinuing the Dopplr service.
What does this mean for you as a Dopplr user? You will continue to have access to your data until November 1st, 2013, after which the service no longer will be available.
Nokia apologizes for any inconvenience, and we thank you for using Dopplr.
