Statewide Transportation Improvement Program

The Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is a staged, multi-year, statewide, intermodal program of transportation projects funded by the Federal Highway Administration or the Federal Transit Administration. Projects listed on the STIP are consistent with the Statewide Long Range Transportation Plan produced by the Vermont Agency of Transportation as part of a planning process that involves the Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization.

The STIP must cover a period of not less than 4 years. It must be fiscally constrained by year and include financial information to demonstrate which projects and project phases are to be implemented using current revenues. The STIP also contains capital and non-capital projects.
