CIN

Convective Inhibition (CIN)

CIN is a measure of the stability of the atmosphere and defines the vertically integrated negative buoyancy of a rising parcel. It is a good indicator of general stability, and convection tends to be less vigorous with higher values.

CIN < 100Potential Instability.
CIN 100 to 200 Marginally stable.
CIN 200 to 300Moderately stable.
CIN > 400Very stable.
